The North Fork of Long Island is a thin, green strip of land with Long Island Sound on one side and the Peconic Bay (and beyond that Shelter Island and the Hamptons) on the other. Compared to the South Fork it's very low-key, still more farmland and fishing villages than swanky beaches, fancy houses and nightclubs. It's regaled for its fresh corn and berries, but now perhaps best-known for producing some of the East Coast's best wines. You'll see acres of vineyards and budding wineries; they only started growing grapes here in the 1970's but it's well on its way to being a mini-Sonoma.
We found a really cool little application online that allowed us to create a map (based on Google Maps) of the wedding area with markers for everything we like nearby. You can see a snippet of it below, but it's easiest to use by clicking here to go to it!

It includes markers for lots of hotels, restaurants, wineries, golf courses, "u-pick" farms and beaches, as well as the New York airports and train stations, so you can also use it to create directions for getting from one place to another.
