24 June 2008 - Okay, I made a little group on Flickr for all wedding-related photos; Christina's are already in there. You can see it here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/janeanddarko/. Just let me know if you want to join and/or add yours to it!

23 June 2008 - Yay photos!! Here are Hafeez's really amazing ones!

UPDATE - 28 May 2008

Let's meet up for drinks on Friday night at the Old Mill Inn restaurant and bar in Mattituck, right on the water! It's not the easiest place in the world to find, so get more info here.

UPDATE

Firstly, book your hotel room now! I have heard reports that several places on the list are already full, so don't wait any longer. I guess you could always pitch a tent on a nearby beach, but if that doesn't sound so appealing then get on that phone ;)

Secondly, since many of you are New Yorkers & Zürichers and don't have cars, or perhaps you're just watching your gas consumption these days, some of you may want to carpool from the city or airports. I think the best way to join drivers and riders is here, by posting on the Guestbook.

If you have space in your car, please post how many people you can fit, where you're leaving from, and your contact info.

If you need a seat, please post where you'll be (borough or airport) and your contact info, or just contact someone who has listed that they have space.

UPDATE

You should be receiving your invitation in the mail soon, or perhaps you already have. We've been getting a number of questions, so here are some answers:

What to wear?
Well, think of it as a late-spring garden party! It's outside, on grass, so it's fairly casual (i.e., long formal dresses and stiletto heels are probably not the best idea, especially for dancing). It will probably be warm in the afternoon but perhaps quite chilly in the evening, so do bring a jacket or sweater of some sort. Suits & ties are certainly not required, but you definitely won't be the only one wearing either one. Other than that, just dress nice in something that makes you happy!

Of course, if rain is in the forecast you very well might want to wear galoshes, but let's keep our fingers crossed for now ;)

Do you have any childcare recommendations?
I am currently researching this. If you are interested in your child(ren) hanging out with some others under the care of a local nanny or two at a nearby house we are renting, please email me as soon as possible so I have an idea of how many little ones and can also get you in touch with each other.

Where are the Friday Night Drinks going to be?
Excellent question! And I almost have an answer. Please check back here after May 1st for the full details.

Do I really have to do something "creative" on the back of my RSVP card in my invitation?
Yes! Please?? Really, all you have to do is write something, we would just truly *love* to have your input, of whatever sort, as part of our "guestbook"/album. If you feel able or inspired to draw, paint, embroider or collage something instead, wonderful!!

Where should I stay?
There are many options! Click here to see a long list of possibilities, with descriptions. I know the Southhold Beach Motel still has a number of fairly inexpensive rooms left, at least as of today.

How do I get there?
Click here for a map of the area (including tons of things to see & do and places to eat and stay) that you can use to get directions, or just click the links below for maps from:

LaGuardia Airport
JFK Airport
Newark Airport

We can't wait to see you all!!

Jane & Darko are getting married!

The wedding will be on Saturday 7 June 2008 in the backyard at Frog Hollow, in Mattituck, on the North Fork of Long Island, in New York. Mattituck is about a 2-hour drive from Manhattan, about 1 hour 45 minutes from both JFK and La Guardia airports, and about 2 hours 30 minutes from Newark airport (see the wedding section for all the details).

Frog Hollow is the wonderful house that my late Uncle Charles designed for himself and his partner of 25 years, Harold Gordon. Harold has generously allowed us to have the wedding in the garden there, which we all think wouldve made Uncle Charles quite happy!

On this site you'll find pretty much everything you need to know, including info about area hotels, a link to a map on which we've marked lots of area attractions and activities, and a little info about us in case you happen to only know one of us so far. Some sections are still a little empty but we'll continue to add things as we get nearer to the date so check back every so often. Please let us know if there's anything else we could add that would be helpful, and please post a comment to our guestbook; we love to read them!

Also, a little info about the Mount-Karas "coat of arms" you see at the top left: yep, we designed it for ourselves! Our two cats, Grits (on the right) and Kasha, are the supporters. The mountain is for "Mount", and "Karas" is the Croatian word for carp (the fish). Below, the ice bear, brown bear and tree represent our lives together and our home, which probably makes more sense if you've been there. At the top the little cityscape is of course New York, where we met and where each of us first truly felt like we belonged. The star is for the U.S., and that's the Swiss cross on the right. And yes, we had a great time figuring all this out.
